Poland’s Medical Cannabis Market Value Is €72 million In 2025

Poland first implemented its medical cannabis program in 2017, with legal sales of medical cannabis products eventually being permitted through the nation’s registered pharmacies. Below is Poland’s historical medical cannabis product import data via reporting by CannaMonitor:

  • 1 ton of medical cannabis products imported in 2021
  • 1.8 tons of medical cannabis products imported in 2022
  • 4.5 tons of medical cannabis products imported in 2023
  • 11.3 tons of medical cannabis products imported in 2024

According to a recent market analysis contained in The European Cannabis Report: 10th Edition, Poland’s legal medical cannabis market is now the fourth-largest in Europe. Poland was ranked third in recent years, but recent regulatory changes focusing on telemedicine have reduced the nation’s market size.

“Poland is now Europe’s fourth-largest market, projected at €72 million in 2025. Recent regulatory improvements, product approvals, and telemedicine adoption spurred rapid growth, although a 2024 ban on online-first consultations has introduced new friction.” reported Cannabis Health News.

At its peak in 2024, Poland’s emerging legal medical cannabis industry served an estimated 90,000 patients. As previously reported, that number lowered to 33,000 in December 2024 after new telemedicine regulations took effect. Although patient numbers have since rebounded to an estimated 44,000.

A previous market analysis for Poland’s emerging medical cannabis industry projected that the nation’s medical market could be worth as much as $2 billion by 2028, but that projection will only be realized if industry laws and regulations are modernized.
